Description:

I have always wanted to create a series of illustrations of cities I am a big fan of, and thanks to An Mu Xi, now I have the opportunity to start realising my dream. In this illustration, I choose one of my favourite cities in China - Xi'an.

I am not from Xi'an, but Xi'an has impressed me again and again ever since I first visited there. From the first time I saw Terracotta Warriors when I was nine, to loving hanging out near Xiang Zi Men and Shu Yuan Men when I was in college, to seeing personally how rapidly Xi'an has developed and what a modern city it has become when I revisited there last year, Xi'an has astonished me every time.

One thing to notice about Xi'an is that there is no strange feelings when walking between buildings that are built thousands of years ago and that are built recently. It seems like that the history of thousands of years has penetrated every corner of the city and different cultures have fused together to form this city as it is today.

This illustration about impressions of Xi'an is actually themed around 'culture fusion'.
